NAVIGATING FLORIDA REAL ESTATE
Here are the names of some of these places in paradise: 30a, Destin, Miramar Beach, Old Blue Mountain, Grayton Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove Beach, Seacrest, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, Carillon Beach, Panama City Beach, Panama City, Mexico Beach, St. Joe Beach, Port St. Joe, Wewahitchka, Cape San Blas, Indian Pass, Apalachicola, Eastpoint, St. George Island, Carrabelle, Dog Island, Lanark Village, Alligator Point… and Tallahassee!
The “Anchor” brand has been associated with real estate in North West Florida since 1962. The first real estate company with “Anchor” in its name was Anchor Realty & Mortgage Company, founded by Dwight Marshall, Jr. (1924-2002) and Willie Norred (1925-2015); Dwight originally operated out of his beachfront home on St. George Island as “Dwight I. Marshall, Jr., Licensed Real Estate Broker”; he was the son of Apalachicola’s foremost builder, and the grand-son of the long-time lighthouse keeper of the Cape St. George Historic Lighthouse --- the only resident of St. George Island for generations! Willie Norred was a relative of Jimmy Bloodworth (1917-2002), a Major-League Baseball player for the “Pittsburgh Pirates”. Jimmy was born in Apalachicola; Bing Crosby composed a song in his honor “We’re on our Way (to Apalachicola F-L-A)” …
Anchor real estate signs were first seen in Apalachicola, Carrabelle, Eastpoint and St. George Island. The colors, yellow and blue, were those of the former Apalachicola High School. In the 1990s, Anchor signs moved beyond the borders of Franklin County to reach Gulf County and Bay County: Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach, Indian Pass, Port St. Joe, St. Joe Beach, Port St. Joe, Wewahitchka… and Panama City Beach. In the 2000s, Tallahassee became Anchor’s newest market. Anchor Realty & Mortgage Company of Tallahassee LLC was a company with the same majority shareholder and the same broker as, but unrelated to, Anchor Realty of St. George Island, Inc.; It was awarded the “Best (real estate company) of Tallahassee” award in 2005.
As real estate sales dropped after 2005, the original company had to adapt: from eleven offices, it melted down to three then two – with St. George Island remaining opened the entire time – and Tallahassee. They were difficult times; we had to make severe cuts; but NO company or business entity related to Olivier Monod ever filed for bankruptcy! In 2010, a new corporate entity, Anchor Realty of St. George Island, Inc., was started. Its mission was to bring a new business model to meet the demands of a new market place. Times had changed, and so did the approach to real estate brokerage: bricks-and-mortar were traded for web presence and personalized support to clients and agents. Our signage also got a face-lift: colors remained unchanged, but with crisp new looks. If the appearance changed, core values remain the same: quality and professionalism; willingness to help and a long list of loyal clients. Anchor has now re-established its presence in the Bay County/Panama City Beach/Lynn Haven markets. We also assist clients in Walton County: Santa Rosa Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Grayton Beach, and other resorts of the Emerald Coast.
Anchor offers a gateway to international markets that is second to none. With fluency in the world’s most-spoken languages, opportunities increase exponentially. We can communicate in the following languages: ENGLISH, of course, but also ARABIC, CHINESE (Mandarin), FRENCH, GERMAN, HEBREW, RUSSIAN and SPANISH.
We have a superb track-record in assisting our clients in their search for homes, lots, investment properties, beach front, and/or water front estates.
We also understand COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE better due to the experience and education of our broker, Olivier Monod, who holds the rare and prestigious CCIM designation.
Among our references; we have represented FREDDIE-MAC for their real estate listings in three Florida coastal counties since 2013. Anchor also represents CAPITAL CITY BANK for their REOs - Real Estate Owned (by the bank), as well as investment firms from all over the United States.
Consequently, we can assist you in Short Sales and Bank Owned Properties, also known as REOs. We can advise you on the acquisition of short-term vacation rental properties. Our broker Olivier Monod used to manage over 400 such houses for twenty years. Therefore, we have the experience and knowledge to render professional advice on the transient rental business in Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach, Panama City Beach and St. George Island.
